OBEX — 7pm
In pre-internet 1987, Conor and his dog Sandy live a life of seclusion, lost in the slow-rendering graphics of early Macs and televisions aglow with late night horror movie marathons. But when he begins playing OBEX, a new and mysterious, state-of-the-art computer game, he finds himself trapped in a low-tech, but high-stakes analog hellscape as the line between reality and game blurs.
Audacious and uncanny, writer-director Albert Birney's OBEX is a delightfully skewed lo-fi fantasy. Shot in striking black and white, this surreally nostalgic nightmare revisits the dawn of personal computing to reflect on the loneliness of our always-online present day.

Joe H Henry & Cameron Nickerson— 7:30pm
Joe H Henry & Cameron Nickerson
with special guest Lily Gunn
Al Whittle Theatre is pleased to host an evening of Atlantic Canadian songwriting at its finest, featuring Joe H. Henry and Cameron Nickerson, with special guest Lily Gunn.
Joe H Henry brings a commanding presence and a deep well of experience to the stage. Known for his powerful voice, Henry’s songs are rooted in hard truths, lived stories, and the rich traditions of blues, soul and alt-country music. His performances are equal parts grit and grace, delivered with an honesty that resonates long after the final note.
Sharing the bill is Cameron Nickerson, a rising force in the Canadian bluegrass and roots scene. Blending progressive bluegrass with modern country storytelling, Nickerson’s music is energetic, heartfelt, and grounded in his Maritime roots. Fresh off a breakout year of national recognition and international performances, Cameron’s live shows balance virtuosic musicianship with raw, relatable songwriting.
Opening the night is special guest Lily Gunn, whose intimate songs and expressive delivery have quickly earned her a reputation as a compelling new voice in the region. With a sound that’s both tender and fearless, Gunn sets the tone perfectly for an evening centered on connection and craft.
This show brings together three distinct voices, united by strong songs, honest performances, and a shared love of roots music — all on the beautiful stage of the Al Whittle Theatre.

Winter Warmers —Friday and Saturday at 7:00pm
Winter Warmers One Act Plays
The festival runs from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, including intermission. Expect a surprising and delightful night of laughs, tears, and theatrical turns as we gather against the cold and mark the slow return of light during winter’s longest stretch.
Join us in this very hygge celebration, where we take comfort in the warmth that grows when people sit together and watch something live unfold while winter holds fast. Presented by Wolfville Social Club, this one-act festival continues the company’s commitment to intimate, community-centred theatre that brings people in from the cold and sends them home warmer than when they arrived.

About the film:
What if it isn’t just a question of how much housing, but what kind of housing and for whom?
Housing is one of the biggest challenges facing our country and one of the most hotly debated issues. Everyone's talking about it, but we aren't always asking the right questions. Instead of focusing on how much housing we need, we also need to look at what kind of housing and for whom.
There are genuine solutions to the housing crisis. Many are already happening, but they are often hiding in plain sight.
Join Dr Brian Doucet, Planning Professor at the University of Waterloo, as he goes coast-to-coast to uncover some of the project, policies and programs that are already making a difference across Canada.
Visit www.housingfilm.ca to learn more about this film.
No ticket or registration required. This event is first come, first served. Please arrive early to guarantee a seat.

There, There — 7pm (post-show Q&A with director Heather Young)
There, There is the sophomore feature from Halifax filmmaker Heather Young, whose 2019 debut Murmur earned awards and accolades across Canada and beyond, and introduced viewers to a new way of seeing Nova Scotia on film.
In her latest, an elderly woman named Ruth (Marlene Jewell) has her routines disrupted by worsening dementia, while Shannon (Katie Mattattal), her pregnant caretaker, works to track down her baby’s father.
There, There marks a huge step forward in Young’s spare, exacting framing and cut-to-the-bone storytelling; the characters inhabit a small world of heavy, pervasive quiet, one in which each bingo dauber, doily and bedspread has something to say about the particulars of Maritime suffering.
Midway through the film, a doctor asks Ruth where she lives; when the name eludes her, she falls back on a pleasantry instead: “It’s the city I live in. It’s a great city, it’s wonderful.” There, There offers no easy answers on whether these are things we believe or just say to fill the silence.
