Whitflix: The Smartphone Film Festival Logo

We’re teaming up with Ross Creek Centre for the Arts to celebrate local talent and creativity with Whitflix: The Smartphone Film Festival.

You have a story to share - and we want to see it on the big screen!

Here’s how you can enter a film in Whitflix*:

  1. Craft a short film on a smartphone or tablet (under 5 minutes long)

  2. Submit your film here by 11:59pm on April 30, 2024. DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MAY 10!

OK, so there’s a few extra steps we left out - like editing. But that’s basically it!

*Full contest rules can be viewed here.

Workshop Opportunities

Filmmaker and past Whitflix winner Emily Ellis will be hosting workshops on March 9th, 2024 and April 6th, 2024 to offer tips on preparing submissions. Both workshops will be at 10am in Studio Z and are FREE to attend. To register in advance, click here.

What happens once you submit your short film?

Our jury (to be announced) will review all of the films in 3 age categories:

(a) 8-13 years

(b) 14-18 years

(c) Over 18

Finalists will be contacted after the jury’s results are in.

Finalist films will be screened at WhitFlix: The Smartphone Film Festival, which will take place at the end of May. A selected film in each category will win an awesome prize! Winners will be announced at the Festival Gala screening.
